School Day

The School Day

At Albemarle, we want all our children to be happy and achieve their full potential, making good progress with their learning. Therefore, it is essential that they attend school on time, every day.

A leaflet explaining our attendance policy for parents/carers can be downloaded here. The full policy can be found on the Policies webpage.

Our school day is structured like this:

  • Albemarle Breakfast Club (ABC) opens each day at 7.45am on the upper school site.

  • At the start of each school day, the gates are open between 8.40 and 8.50am. Children are dropped off at set points and make their way into the school building, without parents, to meet their class teaching team.

  • Each morning, all children will have a 30 minute break in the Lower and Upper School playgrounds. The spaces have been developed to contain quiet areas, a tree house, climbing areas and a sports pitch. Playtimes are always full of laughter and children having fun.

  • At break time, all children from Year 1 to Year 6 have the opportunity to have fruit and milk. We feel this is an important time in the day and helps to keep the children’s brains active and ready for learning.

  • During the morning and afternoon sessions, the Early Years children take part in a range of activities which extend and enrich the learning through in-door and out-door play-based activities.

  • At lunch time the children eat and play separately.

Early Years lunch time is 12:00pm till 1:00pm

Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 lunch time is 12:30pm to 1:15pm.

  • All children are encouraged to eat a school lunch. More information about school lunches can be found under the page 'School Meals'.

  • The school day finishes at 3.15pm, and children are collected from their class pick-up points on the playground.

  • A range of after school clubs run until 4:30pm. We also run Twinkling Stars After School Care, which closes at 6:00pm. For more information, see our Wrap Around Care webpage.
