Homework

Homework

At Albemarle we strive to ensure that homework supports children and parents with their learning journey. Homework must be purposeful, linked to learning in the classroom and prepare our children for the next stage of their educational career.

The Purpose of Homework:

·        To consolidate and re-inforce skills and understanding

·        To extend school learning and involve parents in this process

·        To allow children to devote time to projects that excite and inspire them

·        To develop children’s confidence and self-discipline with meeting deadlines.

Reading:

We still ask that children read with an adult at least 10 minutes per evening as this is a vital part of developing your child’s reading & writing skills.

Homework at Albemarle:

All children in KS1 and KS2 have homework books where their homework is set and can be completed.

In KS1 the children are set a weekly phonics challenge around the sound they have been learning that week. The children will also go over some tricky words as well as practice their sentence writing. The children are also set a weekly maths challenge which will focus on a fluency task relating to the topic they are learning. All homework is set on a Friday and due in on the next Friday.

In KS2 children are set a weekly SPaG or reading activity and set a weekly maths challenge which will focus on a fluency task relating to the topic they are learning. All homework is set on a Friday and due in on the following Wednesday.
