Nursery

Nursery

Nursery is where our youngest children begin their learning journey at Albemarle and we are delighted to offer 52 part time equivalent places for our local community. Currently, we offer learning and provision for two groups of 26 children. The first class is called Opal, who attend Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. The second class is called Moonstone, who attend Wednesday afternoons, Thursday and Friday.

Through embedding high quality practice, staff create a range of learning opportunities that build upon the foundations that are learnt at home. Our entire Early Years team work collaboratively together to ensure a seamless transition between Nursery and Reception. The stimulating child-lead environments enable all children to settle quickly, build a solid foundation and develop a readiness for future progress.

The Early Years curriculum consists of three Prime areas and four Specific areas.

Prime Areas

  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
  • Personal, social and emotional development

Specific Areas

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design
