Governors

We have a strong team of active and committed Governors who act as a critical friend to the staff and ensure that the school maintains its strategic direction to achieve excellence and raise standards.

The Governing Body is made up of parents, representatives from the local community and further afield. They work closely with the Head Teacher and the staff in providing a high quality education in an environment where all learners are able to thrive.

Our team of highly trained support staff work alongside teachers to support the children and as a result, all children including those with special educational needs or English as an additional language make good progress across the curriculum and thrive emotionally.

Responsibility

The Full Governing Body is divided up into three key committees, Resources, Curriculum and Standards, and Children, Families and Community.

All three committees have the following responsibilities:

To receive reports from members of staff about matters relating to any of the issues listed in their terms of reference.

To contribute to, monitor and evaluate via reports, data and visits, relevant parts of the SEF, the school development plan, statutory duties and the policies allocated to them, reporting or making recommendations to the full governing body.

To consider recommendations from relevant external reviews for example audit, Ofsted or local authority review, to agree the actions needed to address any issues identified and to monitor and evaluate regularly the implementation of any plan agreed, reporting or making recommendations to the full governing body.

To take appropriate action on any other relevant matter referred by the governing body.

Each Committee meets once a term, in advance of the main governing body meeting.

Meetings are minuted and the minutes are circulated with the agenda of the next full governors meeting.

Annually, each committee will also review elements of the school Development plan which pertain to them are in line with their responsibilities.
